I Don’t Know What I’d Do Without Her
Teresa has been serving as [my] care manager for the last 6 months. I’m in my late 60s and due to a seizure disorder, I have started walking on a walker. My health is not too bad but sometimes I feel nervous. Teresa goes to my medical appointments with me. She helps me keep up with when I’m supposed to see my different doctors and helps me make sure I have my prescriptions filled.
When I have letters sent to me from insurance people or others who need me to complete forms, she helps me so that I understand and can get what I need. She checks to make sure I have food in the house and if I can’t or don’t feel like cooking she helps me get food.
Sometimes when I get frustrated about attending doctor appointments, she talks to me. She also talks to the doctor so that she will understand my feelings. She has helped me feel less anxious on several occasions. She is always on time for our visits and she always follows up on things.
I don’t know what I’d do without her.
I Felt Hopeless …
Teresa has been very helpful in helping me get medical care. I have had a number of gastrointestinal problems including nausea, hiccups, and I couldn’t keep food down. Although Im in my sixties and have some problems with blood pressure and pre-diabetes, I continue to work in
landscaping and as a handyman. My work is difficult, especially in the Summer. It got to be so frustrating waiting for an appointment with a gastroenterologist. The medicine that I took caused an allergic reaction and I was hospitalized several times.
I felt hopeless.
Teresa began going to the doctor appointments with me. She helped me tell the doctor the kind of problems I was having and helped me to understand more of the medical information the doctor gave me. She helped me to keep track of my medical appointments and she accompanied me to the emergency room when I had to go. She helped me explain to the ER doctor what was happening when I really felt too sick to talk.
When home health was placed in the home after I got out of the hospital, she continued to work with them to help me get the services I needed. After home health discharged me, Teresa continued to help me get some of the services started by the home health social workers
like food stamps.
Teresa has been so supportive when I was frightened and felt alone dealing with this medical problem all by myself.
